Pete McEvoy

Managing Director

Pete is our managing director and a partner.  He is responsible for our day to day operations and specialises in commercial insurance, with extensive knowledge and expertise in this area. Prior to joining Baileys back in 2000, Pete had seventeen valuable years of experience with major NZ Insurance companies, dealing with both brokers and direct clients. Pete obtained his NZ Certificate in Financial Services Level 5 qualification on 24/02/2022.  Originally from Christchurch and still a Cantabrian at heart Pete moved to Auckland with a job transfer in 1993. His insurance experience now totals more than 40 years and he has been an integral part of Baileys’ success through his total dedication and professional approach.  After hours, Pete puts a lot of time into his family and has a keen interest in all sports, but especially rugby – being a big Crusaders fan!

Rowan Adolph

Director

Rowan joined Baileys in 2012, and quickly became a partner in the company. With insurance experience acquired in both underwriting and broking since 1995, Rowan brings a wealth of invaluable knowledge to the Baileys team and is a senior risk adviser. Fully qualified to new regulatory requirements as of 26 April 2022 with continuing education and regulatory requirements ongoing.

Having been raised in a boat building family and with yachting being in his blood, it was natural to be involved in the marine industry in some way. Having been a marine underwriter for many years, Rowan moved into a broking role in 2005 and has found his niche. From an insurance perspective, Rowan specialises in broking all commercial insurance lines and is dedicated to ensuring his clients are his number one priority. Rowan’s passion for marine based risks remains strong and he has built up a very loyal client base in this area due to his knowledge and expertise. His spare time is shared between family, sailing, mountain running, camping and all things outdoors.

Simon Holloway

Director and Senior Advisor

Simon in 2025 will clock up 38 years in the insurance industry, the first 8 years were spent working for Insurer’s as an underwriter and then moving into sales, servicing brokers in the Auckland region and then starting out as a broker at the age of 30.

Simon is currently a Director & Senior Advisor in the business looking after clients across a wide array of Industries.

Simon is married with two adult children and is looking forward to travelling more, both within NZ & overseas when the opportunity arises with his wife of 30 years.

“Simon Says” no pun intended, that events & changes that have occurred in the industry over 38 years is staggering, particularly having to assist clients through devastating natural calamities including storms, flooding, earthquakes & the odd tornado, coupled with keeping up with technological changes have made the job testing at times, but at the end of the day, our role as Insurance Brokers, is to be their in our clients time of need so they can get their lives back on track.

Simon holds his NZ Certificate in Financial Services Level 5 which was obtained 13 March 2023.

Tom Hutton

Senior Risk Advisor

Tom Hutton joined Baileys in 2017, bringing with him a passion for the insurance industry that runs in his family—his grandmother and mother both enjoyed long and successful careers in the field, making Tom’s transition into insurance a natural step.

Before entering the world of insurance, Tom gained valuable experience in the construction industry and hospitality sales. He began his insurance career at Vero Insurance, where he quickly advanced into commercial insurance.

Recognizing his potential, we were excited to welcome Tom into the world of insurance broking here at Baileys.

As a dedicated adviser, Tom is committed to providing expert service and guidance to his clients. Outside of work, he’s passionate about Mountain Biking and Formula 1, and enjoys following both sports in his spare time.

Tom obtained his NZ Certificate in Financial Services Level 5 qualification on 28/02/2022

Rensia van Wyk

Senior Risk Advisor (PQIB)

Rensia came to Baileys in 2007 and has over 27 years of insurance behind her and now live in the Taranaki region. Rensia completed her Intermediate Business Studies Qualification in South Africa and moved to New Zealand in 2006. She worked with Lumley Insurance before making the move to broking and now she works with new and existing commercial clients. Rensia also passed her Level 5 qualification in 2022. Rensia spends most of her time outside of work with her husband and sons and grandchildren. She enjoys sport and travelling around New Zealand whenever the opportunity arises.

Patricia Hoff

Financial Controller

With 17 years of experience in the insurance industry, primarily within finance, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside dedicated teams and learning from every challenge. I’m passionate about supporting those around me—whether it’s colleagues, clients, or partners—and believe in the value of building trust through consistency, care, and integrity. I’m grateful to be part of a field that allows me to make a difference every day, even in small ways.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, gardening, cooking, and watching sports – specially Sevens rugby.  Our household is a fun mix of Crusaders and Blues supporters, and we’re always up for a bit of friendly rivalry. I also love supporting my daughters in their cultural dance, which keeps me connected to what matters most.

Donna Meuli

Claims Specialist

Donna joined Baileys in 2018. Prior to this she gained valuable insurance experience working with various insurers looking after a variety of claims at State Insurance to travel claims with Comprehensive Travel Insurance. The claims area of insurance has always appealed to Donna as she enjoys assisting people when things have gone wrong for them. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and dabbling in the creative arts.

Rachael Hollings

Marine Broker

Racheal started working for Baileys in 2009 after leaving a well established position at Orix New Zealand to start a family. She has a great deal of experience in administration, sales and customer services, and is a valuable member to the Baileys team. Her customer focus and dedication to getting the job done are invaluable. As a Marine Broker, she is dedicated to cultivating strong relationships and providing prompt and efficient service to her clients.  Racheal passed her NZ Certificate in Financial Services Level 5 – General Insurance  on the 3rd of July 2022

An avid cricket & rugby fan, Racheal frequently attends matches with her 3 children and husband. When the weather is favourable, she enjoys spending time at the beach and out on the water with her family

Carolyn Sherwen

Domestic Broker

Carolyn joined Baileys in November 2018, bringing with her an extensive 29-year career in the insurance industry. Prior to joining us, she worked as a domestic broker with several renowned insurance firms in Auckland, gaining invaluable experience across a range of sectors. What truly attracted Carolyn to Baileys was the company’s unique, supportive culture—an environment that felt much more personal and engaging compared to the larger, more impersonal firms she had worked with in the past.

Having worked for a diverse range of leading insurance companies, Carolyn possesses a rare and comprehensive understanding of the industry from both a brokerage and insurer perspective. This dual expertise allows her to offer clients a deeper level of insight and service, ensuring their needs are met with precision and care.

Carolyn has achieved the New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services (Level 5) in March 2022 and is a Registered Financial Adviser.

At Baileys, Carolyn is dedicated to managing all aspects of our new domestic business, including home, contents, car, and motorcycle insurance. Outside of her professional life, Carolyn is an avid enthusiast of the arts, cinema, and music, with a keen appreciation for creativity in all its forms.

Susan Marriott

Broker

Susan has been an integral part of Baileys since 2002, bringing with her a wealth of experience in underwriting and claims from working with some of our key insurers. As a partner in the company, she specializes in Commercial Insurance and has an extensive background in all areas of insurance. Over the years, she has worked with nearly every one of our clients, showcasing her broad knowledge and dedication to exceptional service. In April 2022, Susan further strengthened her expertise by obtaining her Level 5 NZ Certificate in Financial Services General Insurance.

Outside of work, Susan is known for her unique blend of professionalism and personal interests. She’s been known to take work calls from the back of her horse, reflecting her love for adventure and the outdoors. At home, she enjoys life on her lifestyle property, shared with her husband, daughter, dog, cats, cows, chickens, and whatever other animals they may have welcomed into their family. Susan’s passion for both her work and her lifestyle truly exemplifies her balanced and dynamic approach to life.

Natalie Jacka-Freeth

Commercial Broker Support

Natalie Jacka-Freeth, has worked with in the insurance industry for the past 24 years, starting in claims, moving to underwriting and now is continuing her career as a Commercial Broker Assistant.  In 2023 when Natalie returned to the Baileys Insurance Brokers team, she has slotted into our Commercial team, where she has furthered her expertise by earning the New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services (Level 5).

Natalie has, recently settled on the Hibiscus Coast with her husband and three children, ages 15, 10, and 8.

Sue Wiggin

Commercial Broker Support

Sue joined Baileys in January 2012, having emigrated to New Zealand from Wales in 2000. She has been involved with the insurance industry for over 25 years, both in Wales and New Zealand. She is one of the commercial broker supports, gaining an NZ Certificate in Financial Services Level 5 in June 20022. Married with 1 daughter and 2 sons. In her spare time, she loves spending time with her husband, children, and grandson. Her other spare time is spent going to Reformative Pilates and following the English Premier League.

Sandy Miles

Domestic Specialist

Sandy joined Baileys in 2008 after immigrating to New Zealand from South Africa, She worked in the South African insurance industry for over twenty years, working for a variety of brokers during that time. 

Sandy is one of our domestic underwriting specialists, looking after our new and existing clients and is a valued member of the domestic team.  Sandy completed the New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services

Level 5 qualification in 2022 and is a Registered Financial Advisor.  

Outside of work Sandy spends as much time as possible with her family at the Bach in Mangawhai, she enjoys the beach and looking after her granddaughter as well as relaxing with a good book!

Shane Weedon

Domestic Specialist

Shane joined Baileys in April 2018 after previously working at Vero Insurance gaining valuable experience as an insurance underwriter before coming to Baileys to further his insurance career on the broking side of things. Shane’s another one that we “head hunted” as we believe that good experience and excellent customer service is hard to find and, after dealing with Shane ourselves, we knew he’d fit into the broking side of things easily. Shane has also worked in the wider insurance industry, with the majority of that time with direct insurers in a variety of roles including customer service, sales support and claims. Shane has achieved the New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services Level 5 qualification on 8th March 2022 and is a Registered Financial Adviser.Outside of work, Shane enjoys travelling and exploring the great outdoors.

Emily Smith

Broker Support

Emily started at Baileys in March 2022, initially working part-time before transitioning to a full-time role in February 2024, mostly working with the marine team. She enjoys being part of a supportive team and learning more about the insurance industry each day. Outside of work Emily loves walking her dog with my husband and exploring new places to eat together. One of the things Emily really likes about working at Baileys is the close knit, friendly environment.
